Lia, an extraordinarily talented and diversely skilled creative, has recently joined the Versed team. While we could wax poetic for days about her professional experience, capabilities, and what she ultimately brings to our practice, we went a different direction. Get to know her!
Where do you hail from?
Home of the famous New Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe, Pittsburgh, PA
Name 3 talents and 3 things you stink at
- I make a mean fresh guacamole
- Henna tattooing
- Identifying where else we’ve seen obscure side characters in movies and TV shows
Things I stink at:
- Singing. A night of karaoke is my own personal hell.
- Baking anything other than bread. Too many rules.
- Keeping indoor plants alive
If you’re not designing, you’re doing what and why are you doing it?
Working on one of the 500 remaining projects in our Victorian-era fixer-upper. We watched too much HGTV during the pandemic and now we have enough projects to fill our free time for the next couple of decades. The transformation when we’re done with a room makes it worth it, though.
Coffee, Tea, Diet Coke - you only get 1 forever, which one are you choosing? (and convince us you’re not a monster if you don’t choose coffee)
Does anyone not pick coffee?
Name a movie that people think is stupid that you love, and a movie you think is stupid that people love.
Any of the Fast and Furious movies. I love the complete disregard for plot and feasibility, and who wouldn’t want to watch The Rock unironically rip a bench off a wall to do curls?
I really wanted to like The Lord of the Rings movies because I love fantasy as a genre, but I couldn’t get past the hobbits. I think I hate hobbits (sorry, LOTR fans).
Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate, Crayons, Etch-A-Sketch, rank them favorite to least favorite to use.

Favorite local eatery and what do you order?
Smoke in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh has an excellent smoked brisket taco and the best queso I’ve ever eaten.
If living in the USA was not an option, where would you live and why?
I didn’t need much time visiting Italy to know that I’d love to live there. The fresh food, the wine, the art history, the picturesque alleyways, the excellent flea markets, not to mention the proximity to other European countries would make this my number one choice.
Who do you like listening to while you're designing stuff?
Right now I have All Them Witches, Jadu Heart, Tyler, the Creator and The Arcs in heavy rotation. If I’m in a podcast mood, I like Radiolab, If Books Could Kill and 99% Invisible.
Where do you find inspiration?
I think any break from the everyday routine is necessary for creative inspiration. I love to travel, and I’m always filled with ideas after a trip to somewhere new. But it doesn’t have to be an extravagant trip to somewhere far away, I also love checking out the new exhibits at the museums downtown and exploring parks nearby.
